BEYOND LOCATION TRACKING

So much more than a GPS tracker. Real-time protection for high value loads.

Cargo in transit is increasingly vulnerable to organized theft, unauthorized access, and visibility gaps traditional tracking tools were not designed to solve.

The Transit Security Unit, or TSU, provides trailer-level awareness with early threat detection, live video visibility, and real-time response support.

TRANSIT PROTECTION

Protection That Travels With the Load.

RSS Transit Security connects trailer-level technology with our U.S.-based Command Center to help detect threats early, verify activity in real time, and support response while cargo is in motion.

01

Active Threat Detection

Sensors monitor changes within the trailer, triggering alerts when doors open, enabling immediate visibility.

02

Live
Visibility

Live video from integrated cameras allows the Command Center officers to quickly verify threats and take appropriate action.

03

Two-Way Communication

Built-in speakers support live voice intervention to stop unauthorized activity in progress.

04

Command Center Response

Officers initiate predetermined response protocols, engaging client stakeholders and coordinating with law enforcement as necessary.

Transit protection means knowing more than where your cargo is. It means turning awareness into action.

INDUSTRY INSIGHT

The Case for Active Protection.

Protecting freight today requires more than tracking. It requires real-time awareness, rapid intervention, and active deterrence.

01

Cargo theft is rising across the supply chain

02

Many thefts occur while trailers are unattended

03

High-value loads remain prime targets for organized theft

04

Early detection and rapid response help prevent loss

BEYOND BASIC TRACKING

Visibility Without Intervention Isn't Security.

Many fleets still rely on legacy visibility tools such as tractor-based GPS tracking or post-incident reporting.

01

Provide passive visibility, not active protection

02

Often identify problems after a theft has occurred

03

Do not support immediate response during a developing theft

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Transit Security Built to
Protect Cargo in Motion.

Learn how RSS helps protect high-value freight with real-time detection, live Command Center response, and active trailer-level security designed to deter theft before cargo disappears.

What is the Transit Surveillance Unit?

The Transit Surveillance Unit, or TSU, is RSS’s active cargo protection solution designed to monitor trailers and loads in real time while in transit. Unlike traditional GPS tracking systems, the TSU combines AI-powered threat detection, live video streaming, GPS tracking, geofencing, and live voice intervention connected directly to the RSS U.S.-based Command Center.

How is the TSU different from standard GPS cargo tracking?

Traditional GPS systems typically provide passive location visibility after a problem has already occurred. The TSU is designed for active protection. It can detect suspicious activity in real time, trigger alerts, stream live video to the Command Center, and allow operators to issue live voice challenges to deter theft while it is happening.

Can RSS respond to cargo theft attempts in real time?

Yes. When suspicious activity is detected, alerts are immediately sent to the RSS Command Center where trained operators assess the situation and respond in real time. Depending on the event, RSS can issue live voice deterrence, verify authorized access, contact drivers or dispatch teams, and escalate directly to local law enforcement if necessary.

Does the TSU require wiring or permanent trailer modifications?

No. The TSU is designed for fast deployment and easy installation using the trailer’s existing E-track system. No hard wiring or permanent modifications are required, allowing fleets to deploy the system quickly across different trailers as needed.

What types of cargo or industries benefit most from transit protection?

Transit protection is especially valuable for high-value, high-risk, or time-sensitive freight. This includes retail distribution, consumer goods, electronics, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, manufacturing, and other supply chain operations where theft, tampering, or unauthorized access can create major operational and financial losses.

How long does the TSU battery last?

The TSU includes an onboard rechargeable battery system capable of operating for up to 14 days between charges under normal conditions. The unit can typically recharge in approximately four hours using a standard 110V outlet.

Why is active cargo protection becoming more important?

Cargo theft and organized supply chain crime continue to rise across North America, with many thefts occurring while trailers are unattended or in transit. Modern theft operations often move quickly, making passive tracking insufficient. Active protection solutions like the TSU help organizations identify threats early, intervene faster, and reduce losses before cargo disappears.
